On the surface, the writing process is a fairly simple one. It all begins with an idea and ends with a tangible and powerful string of thoughts. If you’re a good writer, you can make those ideas and thought strings fit together to create something extraordinary. Writing is its own form of math in a sense that writers work to fit pieces together. With most stories, you will have a protagonist who experiences something profound and learns a lesson from it. A series of events fit into a singular character’s journey, and the outcome is usually one in which the protagonist is able to grow. Yes, writing is more complex then it may initially seem. Therefore, learning to collaborate with others can often improve your storyline and can also make your literary equation fit together more powerfully.

Once an idea has been constructed, the writing process begins with pre-writing. This is the part where the author sketches out basic ideas surrounding the writing’s premise and storyline. If pre-writing is done with quality, then there will be less likelihood for an author to experience writer’s block down the road. This can be a fantastic way of organizing and splitting up the workload that comes along with creating a book.
After you have finished the first draft of your work, it is time for revision. Revision can be done on your own or in collaboration with others. You may not want to focus specifically on grammar and spelling during this process, but you should make sure that you have a constant and understandable flow of ideas running throughout book. The revision process is also a good time for collaborators to get together and decide whether chapters should be added or omitted from you work.
Upon revising your work, you should have a draft which is relatively complete. Upon completing your draft, you and your collaborators can proofread and edit the story as a whole. This can entail fixing spelling, connotative, and grammatical mistakes. This is perhaps one of the most important components in the writing process. If you are writing something of importance, or something that is meant to reach an educated audience, a spelling or grammatical mistake can essentially throw off the credibility of your entire book. In short, you can your collaborators should edit your work with a fine toothed comb. You don’t want to send your work to publishing unless it is flawless.
