Acrylic paint is a fairly emerging method of painting compared to the painting of olden days. Once the acrylic paint dries it does not dissolve in water and hence the next layer will not affect its color. The disadvantage is that you cannot modify the color either unlike in water color painting. So while using acrylic paint you have to be careful to get the color just right.

Mixing opaque colors: While doing a water color scheme the acrylic painting technique uses transparent coats which are quite easy. It is very complicated to blend two opaque acrylic colors while painting because acrylic paint is normally dry up very fast as compared to other painting color materials. Thus, you have to select the area carefully where you know you have time to mix both colors. Then, you should paint the two colors equally on the selected area. The joining line of the two colors needed to be painted down with damp brush in order to soften this area. When you are done conditioning the mid line where the colors mix use up and down strokes or side to side strokes for mixing both colors until you achieve the desired effect in order to learn how to use acrylic paint correctly.

Sgraffito Technique: That term arises from the actual Italian word "graffiare" that signifies "to scratch". The scratching technique is used to reveal the painting surface or the layer of paint beneath to give a specific effect. Numerous tools can be employed for that Sgraffito method in which the top level of wet paint is scratched. Painters use tips of screwdrivers or old paint brush handle to get the effect. Anyway, this ıs dependent upon what you should use on your painting. The screwdriver may not go well with Sgraffito acrylic painting methods if you are using a panel support since it may cause deterioration. In such cases a sharp wooden handle of a paint brush would be more apt.
