Many parents wish to have their children engaged in productive after school activities. But when they don't have any idea what activity is best for the kids, they just settle for what is near them or for what will fit their budget. Hopefully, this will involve music lessons.

But if more parents are aware of how their children's skills will be enhanced with music education, them I'm sure they will be falling in line to sign their children up for music lessons.

Music makes children more intelligent, socially adept, verbally proficient, and self confident. But the questions is how does music help with these other skills.

Everyone who writes about the benefits of singapore children music classes state that this type of activity develops other skills in children, but just how do they know this and where are their statistics. The fact of the matter is that music does influence children in their skills development and you will find many hard evidence to back this up.'

Recently a study conducted by the University of Toronto showed that children music lessons or even voice lessons had a positive effect on children's IQ. Fours groups of 6 year olds were asked to participate in the study. The first group enrolled in piano lessons, the second in vocal and the third took a theatre class, while the fourth group had no activity whatsoever.

At the start of the study, the children's IQ were tested and the scores duly noted. The kids then went to first grade, and to their respective activity. At the end of the year they were again tested for IQ's and the results were varied.

All of the children had about a 4 point increase which was due to their school, however the kids enrolled in music classes had an additional increase of almost 3 points, where the students involved in theatre had no significant increase.

Scientists believe that the reason for this increase is because music has many dimensions and learning to master all the different facets takes several brain functions.

Learning things like, music interval, chords, memorization, and expression, exercises the child's entire brain. If you child starts musical lessons early you may see a significant growth in their reasoning skills.

The same study was done on adults, however, there was not any significant difference in their IQ's.

Whether this study is a significant reason or not for enrolling children in music class, only you can determine, but if your children show an interest in music, or you are thinking of enrolling them in some type of after school activity then you should really think about some type of music class.

Music is fun for kids. It helps them to be more self confident, socially adept, and helps them with important studies like math. For the kids it's just something fun, but you know that they are developing many other skills while they are having all that fun. Music brings joy, fun, and intelligence to your home. What more could you ask for in an after school activity.
