Magic Tricks Revealed: The Magical Restored Dollar Bill

This is a fantastic up close magic trick that is sure to baffle and confuse any audience. Because it uses everybody's favorite thing, money, it is sure to be a hit at any party or social gathering. It does take a little bit of practice and preparation, but it will be well worth it when you see the stunned look on the faces of your audience.

Here's how the trick will appear to your eager audience. You pull out a bill, any bill will do, but I suggest using only a dollar, as you will be cutting it in half. You explain to the crowd that you have recently learned some powerful money magic from the gods of wealth, and you are going to give a demonstration. You pull out a dollar bill, and a pair of scissors.

As the stunned mass of onlookers wonders what you are about to do, you cut the bill in hlaf. You hold each half up separately for all to see, and with some magic words, and perhaps a wave of your magic wand, with each hand you magically make each cut half grow into a new, complete dollar bill. You have just performed the impossible. You have cut a dollar bill in half, and each half has grown a new half, so now you have two dollars!

Here's the trick. You'll need to methodically prepare two bills beforehand. You take each bill, and carefully cover the center of each with a thin strip of rubber cement. Make sure to cover both sides. When you finishing covering each area with rubber cement, carefully dust the cement with baby powder.

When you pull out the "single" bill, it is actually two bills placed closely together. When you cut through each bill, you will have two halves that are connected by the rubber cement. Each half, when unfolded, will appear to each be a single bill, when they are actually each two halves that have been carefully glued together.

This does require some practice, so make sure you try enough times with regular paper. Of course, if you don't like the idea of cutting real money in half, you can always use stage money, or monopoly money. Also it's a good idea to talk a good game before and after the trick. Another good idea is to quickly put both bills back in your pocket, where you have two more identical bills waiting, should anybody ask to inspect them. This is a great trick to do at parties or other places where people are relaxed and having a good time. Have fun with this.
