The right job listings can be difficult to find. There are thousands of websites that offer online job listings, but most of these wind up listing very similar, if not identical, job opportunities. The websites listed here are worth spending some time on.
1. LinkedIN
Although it provides a method for searching job listings, LinkedIn isn’t a traditional job board. Rather, LinkedIn’s value lies in how easy it is to connect with professionals and other people who work in your industry. LinkedIN allow recruiters to build a network that they can use to search for the right employee, but recruiters won’t find you if you aren’t on the website.
2. USAJobs
The entire US federal government uses USAJobs exclusively for all of its job postings, many of which never make it to other job listing sites. Although many people may not have thought of working for the US government as an option, the US government usually hires numerous jobs at a time in just about every career field.
3. LinkUP
Many employers keep their job opportunities somewhat closer to home and usually skip placing job listings on external boards. LinkUp uses tools that are automatic locate jobs that are only listed on company websites and then compile the listings for their users.
4. Idealist
Many job hunters are putting an emphasis on securing a job that offers the opportunity to give something back. Many companies list jobs from an idealist and nonprofit organizations. While the website does include volunteer work, it also includes paid positions as well as consulting and internship opportunities.
5. RealMatch
A good job interview is similar to a blind date, and RealMatch takes that into account. The website depends on some tests that match the applicant with job opportunities that you’ve displayed some ability with and will send your information to employers who are looking for someone who meets your profile.
No matter which websites fit what you are looking for, nearly all of them allow you to either receive new job leads through email or RSS. Even though you may only be passively looking for a job opportunity that may cross your computer screen, keeping a watchful eye on these websites can help you get word of the perfect job that might not be shown on the standard job boards.
