There are many factors that you should consider when choosing an Ayurvedic School for your training. We will review the most important factors in this article so that you can make the best decision possible. For starters, make sure that the school has been in existence for at least ten years. Most reputable schools also have a track record and reputation for their educational programs. There are only a handful of schools which carry this much experience or that are comprised of individuals that have experience teaching this eastern science to a western audience. Second, make sure that you understand who will be teaching you your classes. Sometimes schools publish a full roster of famous and well known Ayurveda Doctors but they are not the ones that teach you most of your classes. The full time faculty of your Ayurveda School should have Ayurvedic Doctors who posses an ample knowledge of Ayurveda in theory and also have been in clinical practice in the United States for at least 15 years. They should also posses extensive experience in teaching this spiritual eastern science to a western audience. These doctors should also be living examples of the ancient oral tradition which is Ayurveda. Since this is a spiritual science these instructors should be embodiments of the living tradition. In other words, these doctors should be fully immersed in the science as a way of life and also as a spiritual discipline. Further, the faculty should come from the motherland and source of Ayurveda: India. If you can find a school that meets all or most of these requirements in their faculty you should be in good shape. In essence, the quality of the full time faculty of the school you choose will be at the heart of your education.

National and state certifications for states like California and Washington are available to these schools and they should possess these qualifications. They should also be recognized by the national authority on Ayurveda: NAMA (National Ayurvedic Medical Association). Most certification information can be provided by the school if you ask them for the information.
Moreover, use the Google Rankings to guide you to the most reputable schools. Remember that Google ranks according to credibility and to contributions in education by these schools so it is also important to bear in mind your Google results. Be weary of paid advertisements that are usually at the top of the results with the label “Sponsored Links” or to the right hand side of the links. Anyone can purchase sponsored links and these listings simply do not give you any additional information about the school. In contrast, if you find schools listed on the organic or natural results from Google you will see schools that have spent considerable amount of time sharing Ayurveda content with the world. Typically, this is the sign of a good and credible school that is dedicated to sharing their education. Google ranks on aspects that ensure credibility and credits those who share reliable content with others.
Do not be afraid to ask questions. Research the school completely and then prepare your questions for the schools that you have chosen. Sometimes, we learn a great deal about a school when we listen to the people that work for that organization. The school should always strive to embody the principles that they teach.
