When it comes to choosing an instrument it can be a very difficult decision because there are so many different instruments to choose from. Even if you make the decision to learn how to play a certain kind of instrument there may still be choices to make regarding which type you want to play. The guitar is one such instrument which offers countless possibilities to aspiring musicians. There are dozens of different types of guitars, from acoustic to electric to classical, and each type of guitar is capable of playing a wide range of types of music. One of the most frequently overlooked types of guitar is the bass guitar. The bass guitar differs significantly from acoustic and electric guitars in both physical appearance and playing technique. If you are a beginner guitarist or if you are considering making the switch to the bass guitar, there are a lot of things you will need to learn. Making the switch will be like learning an entirely new instrument, even though the bass is still a type of guitar. The main difference between a bass guitar and an acoustic or electric guitar is that the bass guitar only has four strings as opposed to six. This means that the positions for notes will be different and it will take time to learn them.
