There are lots of people who will offer to take headshots, but you should be careful that you are not paying more than you need to. It is possible to get perfectly competent headshots done for as little as £60. When booking for your headshots, find out whether there are any additional charges for getting the copyright to your photos and whether the photographer will be able to supply them ready for emailing.
In order for your headshot to be considered professional there are a lot of hoops to jump through. Most of these are perfectly sensible although some have more to do with industry practice than anything else.
When sending physical prints they should normally be 10 by 8 and in black and white. Colour prints are becoming more popular and many photographers will supply these at no extra cost. You won't get any auditions if your applications are not even read!
