It’s hard to imagine a life without shoes as they play such an integral part in all of our lives; we have shoes for sports, everyday, special occasions and so on. Shoes come in such a variety of designs, colours and shapes and this increases almost everyday. However, cast your mind back around two hundred years ago and you would have more than likely have found yourself wearing straight soled shoes with straps, looking like a sandal. The first rubber soled shoe was developed within America and became what we now associate with the plimsoll. Fortunately, the plimsoll has become a fashionable accessory with companies like Converse taking on the traditional plimsoll and turning it into a style fashionable item. However, many of us will no doubt be haunted by the plimsoll used within schools for P.E!
